It has come to my attention in this month’s eBulletin that there has apparently been some transition in leadership with the ‘presumed’ resignation of the executive director Dan Whicker, I was only able to conclude this after logging in to my account and downloading the minutes from the winter meetings 2018.
It concerns me that a transition in leadership and executive roles has gone more than four months of publication of the main news journal of this assocaiation, the eBulletin, without any mention or clarity and transparency on what may be occuring, not to mention that it has also been an election season which clearly ended in June, of which the outcome of said ‘election’ has also not announced.
As a member of other associations, non profits, and volunteer lead groups, I fully understand that there may be a need and merit of some discretion about changes, transitions, and/or necessary removal of leadership roles: it nevertheless seems quite odd and troubling that I have seen no communication of this transition published or otherwise communicated until this issue of the eBulletin in which it is only in passing that a new ‘interim’ executive director is listed, but not clearly announced.
I sense and suspect there may be some troubling leadership and interval strife in this organization, and, after evaluating the overall budget of over one million dollars of this organization, this lack of transparency is all the more dubious and concerning.
Thank you in advance for your thoughtful address and response to my, and the rest to the AANR community’s concerns about these issues.
